U17 International Cricket Tournament - February 2009
Barbados has been chosen for the U17 International Cricket Tournament as the natural home of cricket in the Caribbean. Recent improvements at certain grounds implemented for The ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 will no doubt benefit the teams as they battle it out for the best player awards and a chance to play in The International Match.
Entry is restricted to a maximum of 16 teams which will be organised into 4 pools each of 4 teams where they will each play 3 limited over matches to determine which 8 teams will progress to the quarter finals and beyond. Those teams failing to qualify for the finals will enter into a plate competition. All Teams are guaranteed a minimum of 5 matches.
We anticipate that over half the teams participating will be from the UK whilst the rest will be from overseas including South Africa, Ireland, Canada, Trinidad & Tobago, St Lucia and Barbados. A feature of the Tournament will be The International Match - the UK vs the Rest of the World with both representative sides selected from the UK and overseas teams.
Organised by Sports Tours UK, with the support of the Barbados Tourist Board, The U17 International Cricket Tournament promises to be a huge success, and one that players, umpires, families and friends will remember for years to come. We look forward to welcoming you!
