Over 50's International Cricket Festival- October 2008
This exciting Cricket Festival aims to raise the profile of Club Cricket in England as a result of the success of the Twenty20 format of the game at County and International level.
STUK and The Club Cricket Conference present a unique venture with priority entry reserved for the Over 50’s teams at County Board level. The final format may be 30 or 40 over matches.
Sri Lanka has been chosen to host this Cricket Festival. It is a country of rare splendour with a people of gentle nature - it’s beauty, culture and a passion for cricket all lend themselves to an event of this nature.
The Festival will run for 14 days. It will include eight (8) teams, from the United Kingdom and four(4) from Sri Lanka, India & the Middle East. Invitations have been also been extended to teams from Northern Australia to provide a truly International event. Teams will initially compete in pools of 3 after which they will progress to Semi Finals or the Order of Merit league. Each team is guaranteed to play a minimum of 4 matches
The matches will be played in Kandy and Colombo. We have selected some of the best venues available in the country for the Festival.
The first phase of the Festival will be staged at Kandy and the accommodation will be at the 5 Star Amaya Hills Resort. This will be followed by the Mount Lavinia Hotelonce the Event moves to Colombo.
We look forward to welcoming you in Sri Lanka and we remain certain that you will have a wonderful time!
